Margdarshak watches rainfall, river gauges, slope stability and road condition across all eight states, then routes citizens, drivers, logistics operators and rescue teams around whatever has just closed.
The problem
Routing that only knows about traffic is useless in a region where the constraint is whether the road still exists. Four conditions make the North East a distinct problem rather than a harder version of an ordinary one.
Almost everything entering the region passes through the Siliguri corridor, and Mizoram is served by one surface link through Silchar. When a single segment closes, a whole state loses its supply line rather than one lane of traffic.
The southern slopes of Meghalaya record some of the heaviest rainfall measured anywhere. Saturation builds across hill cut sections faster than clearance crews can work, and the Brahmaputra and Barak respond within hours.
The highest hazard band in the country covers most of the eight states. Tremors weaken cut slopes and bridge piers quietly, so the damage often shows up as a road failure days after the event itself.
In the hills the next alternative is rarely nearby. A closure at Sonapur pushes Barak valley freight onto an approach through Nagaland and Manipur, adding most of a day to a journey that normally takes five hours.
How it works
The platform is a loop rather than a dashboard. Every signal changes the weight of a road segment, and every changed weight changes the route the next person is given.
Sense
A gauge reading, a rainfall warning, a tremor or a citizen report is attached to the specific stretch of highway it affects. A warning for East Khasi Hills becomes a condition on the Guwahati to Shillong climb and the Shillong to Silchar section.
Score
The same hundred millimetres of rain means something different on the plains than on a hill cut section above a river. Rainfall, river level, slope, seismic activity and past incident density combine into a district score and a per segment risk value.
Route
Closures are removed from the graph and cautioned segments are made expensive. A shortest path runs three times over the same network with different weightings, which is what produces a fastest option and a lowest risk option side by side.
Respond
Emergencies raised from the SOS flow enter the same console that holds the map, the fleet and the risk ranking, with the access detail a rescue team needs before it leaves.

A queue of raised emergencies with landmark, people affected, hazard on the ground and the access route that is still open.
Three segments are closed, six are degraded and two vehicles are held. Every screen is built, connected and driven by the same simulated dataset.
